Connecting Computers Together
A network exists whenever two or more devices are connected in a way that lets them exchange data. This could be as simple as two laptops sharing a printer, or as vast as the global internet.
LAN and WAN
A LAN (Local Area Network) covers a small area, like a home or office. A WAN (Wide Area Network) spans much larger distances, connecting LANs across cities or countries. The internet itself is essentially the largest WAN in existence.
Example
The Wi-Fi network in your home is a LAN. When your home network connects to your internet provider and beyond, you're using a WAN.
